Experience in Lonavla

Writing this sitting in a room in 'The Metropole' in Lonavala. Before leaving to Lonavala in a local train, we visited College of Engineering Pune. Got to visit Mechanical department, where exhibits of Mig-21 engine, Steam Turbines, etc were kept. We gave a visit to Peshwa palace in Shanivara-vADa also. A couple of snaps here and there.

In the afternoon, we took leave from Amar's family and headed toward Lonavala. Now, we are put up in a room in 'The Metropole', a 3-Star hotel. Room is priced at Rs.3,500/- a day. In the morning, we realised that there is no continuous supply of hot water to take a decent bath. Plug-points are not right and telephone cable keeps coming out.

The place is not at a very high altitude. There are a couple of dams and view points. We visited Tata Power dam in the morning. The security did not allow to carry our camera from the entrance. Though there is some water in the dam, we were not allowed to walk over the dam. The place there is 'really' green and hosts a good bird life. What's the use if the security does not allow to carry your photography equipments?

Planning to visit a Sun-set point in the evening. Hope that would be of some relief. I think this place mainly for Honeymoon couples, who do not mind much whether security guard permits carry cameras or not ;0)

But, there is one good thing about Lonavala. The 'chikkis'. So many varieties: Badam-Pista, Khaju-kesar, Kesar-Mixed-dryfruits, Butter-chikki, Coconut-chikki, etc. Liked the dry-fruits chikki and have a couple here. I will have to withstand my friend's harsh comments if I want to eat any more chikkis :=) Another thing is, every alternate chikki stall here is "Maganlal Chikki". In one place, I got to see three "Maganlal"s next to each other. It's crazy!

We should be leaving to Matheran tomorrow morning. We have a booking in "Verandah in the forest" there.

No photoes today.

  1. Rs. 3500/- a night and no hot water - jaava janumadalli yenu paapa madiddeyoo

Anyway, first strawberries, now chikkis - you are setting high expectations when you return to Bangalore. You will have a really bad time if you do not live up to the expectations.
