Tyagaraja aradhana @ Udupi
I happened to visit Udupi on May 1st and 2nd with my music teacher, Vidwan Moodnur V. Raghuram (MVR)
There happened to be another major function related to Silver jubilee of the monthly magazine from Puttige Matha (one of the eight-mathas founded by Madhwacharya). Stage was well set for the event, and for an hour before all guests arrive, MPB was requested to conduct a concert. With beautiful stage setting, I thought I should get some good images of the performers. Here are few images...
Second day of May, students of MPB performed as part of the Tyagaraja aradhana. It was a full day event, from 9AM till 8PM.
- Vidwan Madhur P. Balasubramanya (MPB) with my teacher had planned to celebrate Tyagaraja aaradhana and memorial day of their guru Kanchana Venkatasubramanya Iyer in Udupi
- My teacher had come up with an audio CD of Carnatic Instrumental music (violin) named "Amruta-varshini" and had planned release of the CD on the same day

Overall, it was a good two day of music, completely out of all urban boredom :-)
Few words about Kanchana Venkatasubramanya Iyer:
Disciple of the legendary G. N. Balasubramaniam
It will not be false to say that it is because of Kanchana Venkatasubramanya Iyer, that Carnatic music found its grounds in South Canara district. He settled down in a village called "Kanchana" near Uppinangadi, and started teaching music in guru-kula system.
