Fun-filled weekend - a bit of everything
Date: 10th August 2008
Place: Nagalagere, T.Narasipura Taluk, Mysooru District, Karnataka, India
Visited my friend's native place "Nagalagere" (ನಾಗಲಗೆರೆ) in T.Narasipura taluk (ತಿರುಮಕೂಡಲು ನರಸೀಪುರ) with his family. I carried my swaroo / ಸ್ವರೂ (Swarovski ATS-65-HD) hoping I could show some birds to my friend there.
There are two tanks adjoining this village. One is "Nagalagere" and the other one is of the next village Neregyatana-halli (ನೆರೆಗ್ಯಾತನ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಕೆರೆ). Villagers of Neregyatana halli had got the water released from KRS to the tanks. But it was stopped in the middle, just filling Nagala-gere, leaving the Neregyatana-halli kere dry.
Got to see lots of water birds - Painted Storks, Common Coots, Dabchicks, Redwattled Lapwings, Black Ibis, Egrets (Cattle and Little), Indian Pond Herons and also a Brahminy Kite. Breeding season is over, I could see a juvenile Redwattled Lapwing and a juvenile Painted Stork. Tried some digiscoping using my friend's Sony DSC-W120. It did well with little practice. But, it doesn't have Aperture, Shutter and other controls. It flashes at everything. Here is what I managed with very little effort :o)

The barren tank bed was inviting for our monkey mindsets :o) My friend and his nephew tried few ಪಲ್ಟಿ (a version of summersault), while the person who thought very high of himself, more sophisticated tried ಶೀರ್ಷಾಸನ (sheershAsana - head stand). Now, the latter repents for not pulty-ing :'(
There was a field full of Daisy flowers (ಚೆಂಡು-ಹೂ) which is used to extract some oil for medicinal purposes. It was beautiful place. Went trigger happy with some landscapes. Just a sample here.

Honestly, the digiscoped image is good considering you didn't use your Nikon 8400 - (see macro mode makes all the difference and the camera doesn't)
