Ugadi, Soubhagya Sanjeevini, Olive Ridely - a retrospection
Hey,
I have decided to do little blogging and little browsing today.
While going through my blog-roles I came across this one:
http://westernghats.blogspot.com/2007/05/sample-pamphlets-and-campaign-on-ills.html
You know what? It is almost a year now, with Ramanavami in the offing. I don't know whether the campaign against "Soubhagya Sanjeevini" project had an influence or not. Not sure how many people sent the pamphlets that were distributed. But, so far, the project has not taken off, I would say, mostly due to its obvious impracticality. That's a relief!
For all I know the idea may not take off at all. Now, sitting back, I retrospect whether the way I reacted was right or wrong. I ask myself whether I could have done it better. According to the law of the land, any pamphlet to be distributed should bear information about the publisher, which we did not respect in this case, probably because I was shy enough (then) not to put my own name and did not know what to do. Ameen recently told me that I could use "WANCERS" in such a case.
Lots of things have changed in my life in a span of just one year. I really do not know whether I would have reacted this way, for a cause of saving the Western Ghats had it happened this year. I don't have an answer. Probably I would have done it in a different way, mostly a better way. No regrets, I am just happy and I can not believe that I distributed pamphlets standing at the entrance of Ramanavami festival in Fort High School grounds in Bangalore last year.
I feel that it is for the good that I am thinking about these today (the day marking the beginning of "Sarvadhari" samvatsara - Ugadi festival) and I want to go back looking into NBSAP (National Bio-diversity Strategy and Action Plan) CD and google for more details on Olive Ridely Turtles and compile possible information to post on the Blog. Anything that can help in preventing TATA's (my favorite industrialists) stopping construction of a port near Dhamra. Click here for the link.
Wish the festival of Ugadi brings peace and harmony in the world,
Wish the festival of Ugadi fills in new vigour in the heart of nature lovers,
Wish the festival of Ugadi strengthens the belief of protectors of our natural resources,
Wish the festival of Ugadi makes this world a better place to live.
