Sinhgad - A travel in time

(Text by: Sridhar)

Left Salisbury Park at 8:30 AM after a hearty breakfast of very tasty sandwiches and patented lemon juice with mint. A quick drive through the city and then onward through some testy roads and we were on our way up. The road was pretty winding and steep. We reached the top of the fort in about 1.5 hrs. We then took a long walk around the ramparts of the fort.

A view of the fort ramparts:

The hill enjoys a commanding view of two valleys and it is easy to see why any military commander would love to have his encampment on the top of this hill.

Even so, it is pretty awe inspiring to think of the effort that must have gone into building a fort and maintaining an encampment on this place. Going round the hill, we spotted a Rock Agama, Bulbul, Black-shouldered Kite.

The descent down the hillock was much quicker and we were back in Pune for lunch by around 2:30 PM.

  1. I do not believe the "Image Courtesy: Sridhar" part of the story. The last image doesn't seem to come from a 18-55 mm lens nor does it look like a Sridhar-esque photograph.
